How It Works
Elvanse is a prodrug of dextroamphetamine. This means that it is inactive until it is metabolized in the body to produce dextroamphetamine, a central nervous system stimulant. Dextroamphetamine increases the release of neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain, which helps improve attention, focus, and impulse control in patients with ADHD and reduces binge eating episodes in patients with BED.

Indications
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children over the age of 6 and adults
- Binge Eating Disorder (BED) in adults
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lisdexamfetamine or any of the excipients
- Advanced arteriosclerosis
- Symptomatic cardiovascular disease
- Moderate to severe hypertension
- Hyperthyroidism
- Known history of drug abuse
- Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOI treatment
